New Delhi : The Lok Sabha was Tuesday adjourned till noon following vociferous protests by opposition parties over the issues of black money and religious conversions.
As soon as the house convened, the parties gave notices for suspension of question hour and moved an adjournment motion.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said: “We have been demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on forced conversions but there is no response.”
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan dismissed the motion for suspension of question hour and said the house should be allowed to function.
Following this, opposition MPs trooped near the speaker’s podium and started shouting slogans demanding a statement from the prime minister.
After trying to continue with the question hour for some time amid the din, Mahajan adjourned the house till noon.
