BJP celebrates, JMM disappointed

Ranchi : The Bharatiya Janata Party, headed for a majority in Jharkhand, is celebrating its victory by bursting fire crackers with partymen putting colour on each other.

Enthused with the victory, the BJP is confident of forming the government in the state.

“We will get 45 seats and form the government in the state,” Raghbubar Das, the BJP national vice president told IANS. Das is a strong contender for the post of chief minister.

The ruling JMM is disappointed with its performance. “We are disappointed with our performance. We were expecting 30 plus seats… We are hopeful of getting more than 20 seats two more than that in the previous polls,” Supriyo Bhattacharya, general secretary of the JMM told IANS.

He said: “The alliance with Congress and RJD could have kept the BJP away from power. The Congress stand to part ways helped the BJP win in Jharkhand”.

According to the latest trends and results, the BJP is leading on or has won 36 seats, and its ally All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) is leading on four seats. The ruling JMM has won or is leading on 19 seats. The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM-P) has won or is leading on seven seats while the Congress and the RJD are leading on six and two seats respectively.
