Daijiworld reported Abid was about to leave his father’s shop in Chakkar Bazaar for home when the gang suddenly stormed into the shop and attacked him.
Hearing Abid’s shouts for help, some nearby shopkeepers ran to help him. However, by then the gang had finished its task and escaped in the darkness, the report said.
The seriously injured and bleeding Abid was immediately taken to a private hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. But he could not survive and breathed his last in the early hours on Tuesday. His mortal remains were shifted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital in Kerala.
Enraged with Abid’s brutal killing, local unit of SDPI had given a call for bandh in Kasaragod taluk on Tuesday, which saw mixed response from the SDPI dominant areas in the Kasaragod.
Police, meanwhile, have given a call to maintain peace in the area and have assured of immediate arrest of the culprits. Investigation has started and additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent any untoward incidences.
