Hyderabad : Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy Monday said locals were not involved in terror-related incidents that occurred in the city.
He said those involved came from outside and carried out their activities without help from locals. “It’s not proper to blame Hyderabad people,” he said when reporters of some television channels asked him about the alleged sleeper cells of terrorist outfits and Hyderabad being alleged safe heaven for such activities.
“Hyderabad is a sensitive city but people are good and law-abiding. The locals are not involved in terror-related activities,” he said.
The police chief, however, said they were on alert and using technology and involving people to prevent any incident.
Referring to Sunday’s blast in Bengaluru, Reddy said they were taking all steps to prevent such incidents in Hyderabad.
Police were on alert in the wake of the blast and also in view of the New Year celebrations, and have heightened the vigil at public places and are checking vehicles.
He appealed to people to pass on any information about suspected people, vehicles and objects to police. “Police will reach any place in the city within 10 minutes,” he said.
