Arabic professor from AMU honoured by President

    Aligarh: Prof Syed Kafeel Ahmad Qasmi, Chairman, Department of Arabic, Aligarh Muslim University has been conferred the President’s certificate of Honour by the President of India. The award carries a medal, shawl and fifty thousand rupees per year for lifetime. Dr Mohd Ehtashamuddin, Assistant Professor, Institute of Persian Research has also received Maharshi Badarayan Vyas Samman from the President of India. The award carries one lakh rupees. Both the awards were conferred at a ceremony held recently in New Delhi.

    Prof Syed Kafeel Ahmad Qasmi has been in teaching profession at Aligarh Muslim University for the last 37 years. He has authored and edited twelve books and participated in 45 national and international seminars and published 50 research articles. Sixteen researchers and eight students have got their PhD and M. Phil. degrees respectively, under his supervision. In his coordination, six projects of UGC have been completed and two are in progress. He has been a member of academic bodies of many reputed institutes and universities.

    Dr Mohd Ehtashamuddin has published three books, fifteen research papers and other articles. He has participated in about twenty five seminars and workshops and contributed a lot in the development of Persian language for many years while holding the position in the field of research.
