Chennai : BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Sunday urged the youth to think big, giving the example of the proposed Statue of Unity in Gujarat.
Speaking at the 9th convocation of the SRM University near here, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader urged the students to follow the 3s principle – skill, speed and scale – which are necessary for nation building.
The Gujarat chief minister said his government had decided to build a big statute of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that will be double the size of the Statue of Liberty.
He said but for Patel who integrated various small regions into one big country, India would have disintegrated after Independence.
The Statue of Unity will measure around 240 metres from the base. The height of the statue alone will be 182 metres.
