New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, which so far were seen to be soft on Samajwadi party and its leader Mulayam Singh Yadav in the wake of the Communal riots in Muzaffarnagar, have now openly started criticizing the party.
What seem to have angered both the factions of the Jamiat is the opposition of the SP leaders in the Upper House of the Parliament to the Communal Violence Bill.

Chief of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Syed Maulana Arshad Madani said that the SP shuld be ready to face the consequence of opposition to the important communal violence bill in 2014 elections. He particular came heavily on the Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agarwal for his stiff resistance during discussion on the bill.
Maula Arshad Madani demanded that the party should take strict actions against “communal” leaders of the party like Agarwal and immediately suspend him, if it wants to retain the support of the community. He was also critical of another SP MP Kiranmoy Nanda who too opposed the bill.
Jamiat has so far been supportive of Samajwadi party government in post-riot relief works, but now Maulana Madani has openly questioned the intent of the SP, adding that surely people died in Muzaffarnagar due to their faith and the culprits must be brought to justice.
The Jamiat Chief said that if SP is serious about security and well being of Muslims, then the party should facilitate in passage of bill.
Expressing his anger and questioning the intent of the Congress led UPA government, he said that when the government wanted to pass the bill, whether on FDI or the Lokpal Bill, it could easily manage the numbers. He accused the government of ill-preparedness that resulted in indefinite deferment of the bill like 2006 and 2011.

Meanwhile, his nephew and general secretary of the other faction of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Maulana Mahmood Madani too expressed his disappointment, saying that the communal violence bill has shown the true colours of all so called secular leaders and parties.
Besides BJP, from left parties to TMC and SP have all opposed the communal violence bill on the ground that it is against the spirit of the federal structure of India. Maulana Mahmood Madani accused all the so called secular parties of “collusion” with the BJP in their opposition to the bill.
