Dharamsala : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Wednesday invited the entrepreneurs to set up information technology (IT) industry in the state.

Speaking after laying foundation stone of an IT park and IT township at Jadrangal near here, some 250 km from Shimla, the chief minister said it is an initiative to create self-employment and employment opportunities.

“The setting up of this IT park intends to encourage and support manufacturing of hardware and software. It will offer the necessary infrastructure to facilitate communication and connectivity,” he said.

Virbhadra Singh said IT industry has been accorded a thrust status in the state’s industrial policy as it is most suited to the environs of Himachal Pradesh.

This park would enable single-window facilitation to the IT-related industries in the state, he added.

Virbhadra Singh said a software technology park has also been set up in Shimla, and added that in order to promote the IT growth in the state, efforts would be made to build hi-tech habitats in and around all major towns.
