New Delhi : Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Tuesday moved the bill to create a separate state of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh in the Lok Sabha amid din in the house.
The house witnessed two adjournments after the minister moved the bill for consideration and passing by it.
Soon after the house resumed its proceedings following the first adjournment in the morning, members opposing bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, including some union ministers, came near the speaker’s podium.
Some members held placards against the bifurcation of the state.
Members of other parties, including the DMK, CPI-M and Samajwadi Party, also sought to raise their issues.
Some members held placards to “pass the SC/ST sub plan bill”.
Members supporting creation of a separate state of Telangana also moved near the podium.
After the day’s papers were laid on the table of the house, Shinde moved the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2014.
Speaker Meira Kumar called for order, but as the din continued, she adjourned the house till 12.45 p.m.
When the house met again, members from Seemandhra region again came near the speaker’s podium. Members from some other parties also sought to raise their issues.
The protests continued as Shinde began reading his speech. The speaker then adjourned the house till 3 p.m.
