Haryana hikes incentives for bravery award holders

Chandigarh : The Haryana government Wednesday announced a steep hike in incentive money to be given to servicemen from the state awarded for gallantry.

Winners of Param Vir Chakra, the highest award for gallantry in wartime, will get an incentive of Rs.2 crore, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced at a function of ex-servicemen from the state in Rohtak.

Earlier, PVC winners from Haryana were entitled to cash incentive of Rs.31 lakh only.

Recipients of Maha Vir Chakra would get Rs.1 crore instead of Rs.21 lakh and recipients of Vir Chakra would get Rs.50 lakh instead of Rs.15 lakh, Hooda announced.

For Sena Medal, Nau Sena medal and Vayu Sena Medals for bravery, the recepient would get Rs.21 lakh instead of Rs.7.50 lakh earlier. Recipient of Mention-in-Dispatches would get Rs.10 lakh instead of Rs 5.5 lakh given earlier, he said.

Haryana has a large number of people serving in the defence services.
