Indian arrested in Nepal for planning his own abduction

Kathmandu : An Indian was arrested in Nepal for planning his own abduction, allegedly to get rid of his wife, a media report said.

Ashok Mehta, 28, a resident of Bihar’s Supaul district, who was living in Nepal for many years, was arrested Tuesday on the charge of faking his own abduction, the Republica reported.

Ashok involved his cousins Pankaj and Sanjaya, who “abducted” him Sunday while he was out with a friend for an evening stroll.

Ashok was later found living with his cousins when police raided their properties at Inaruwa town in Sunsari district.

According to police, Pankaj and Sanjaya during questioning admitted that they abducted Ashok on his request as he wanted to run away from his wife.

Ashok was arrested after police corroborated the duo’s account.
