Aligarh: The teams from Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, Bhopal, Lovely Professional University, Punjab and Jamia Millia islamia, New Delhi have won the first prize in Hindi, English and Urdu debates respectively under the All India Sir Syed Memorial Debate organized by University Literary Club, General Education Centre, Aligarh Muslim University.
In Hindi, Abhishek Mishra and Devansh Awasthi of MLC University, Bhopal secured the first prize while the second and third prizes went to Krishna Kumar Shukla and Subhendra Satyadev from Deen Dayal University, Gorakhpur and Pankaj Kumar Chauhan and Noor Jahan from Aligarh Muslim university respectively.
In English, Mriganav Borah and Harpreet Singh Hora of Lovely Professional University, Punjab bagged the first prize while second and third prizes were secured by Ayush Nagpal and Shashank Shandilya of ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad and Lubna Irfan Hindi Hand Mohd. Zaman Sheikh of Aligarh Muslim University in that order.
Similarly, first prize in Urdu went to Faisal Nazir and Ishtiaque Ahmad of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and third prize went to S. Masoodul Hasan and Haroon Rashid Zargar of Aligarh Muslim University. Second prize went blank as no team was found suitable.
The best speaker prizes in all the three categories went to Abhishek Mishra of MLC University, Bhopal, Ayush Nagpal of ABES Engineering College and Ishtiaque Ahmad of Jamia Millia Islamia respectively.
Prominent educationist, Prof. Hameeda Ahmad gave away prizes to the winners. Dr. F. S. Shirani, Coordinator, GEC welcomed the guests and Dr. S. Siraj Ajmali, President, Literary Club and Fawaz Shaheen, student of law presented the report. Mr. Shafey Anwarul Haque conducted the programme.
Teams from 30 universities and colleges participated in the national level event.
