Patna : The Bihar government Tuesday demanded Rs.63,633 crore from the 14th Finance Commission for development of the state, an official said.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who along with his cabinet colleagues and top officials, met a visiting team of the commission here, submitted a memorandum highlighting the need for building infrastructure including roads and bridges, river interlinking, and implementation of agriculture road map and sought the amount.
The memorandum also stressed on development of energy sector, health and education, an official of the chief minister’s office said here.
State Water Resources Development Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, who was present at the meeting, told media persons later that the state government has given a detailed memorandum to the commission. He said Nitish Kumar also demanded equal distribution of central taxes between the central and state governments — up from the present 68:32 sharing formula.
