Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday claimed West Bengal tops the country in credit inflows to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector, achieving a growth rate of over 105 percent.
“We are No.1 in credit flow in the MSME sector in the country. During the April-September 2012 period, the credit flow from banks in the MSME sector in Bengal was the highest at Rs.4,331 crore.
“Again, we are still No.1 during the April-September 2013 period, with the highest credit flow of Rs.8,900 crore to the MSME sector. This is more than 105 per cent increase on year-to-year basis,” Banerjee said on her official Facebook page.
Asserting that other states, including Gujarat, have recorded an average growth below 50 per cent, Banerjee attributed her government’s success to “persistent follow-up in providing the entrepreneurs all necessary assistance for setting up and running business successfully”.
