DMK to field Siva for Feb 7 Rajya Sabha polls

    Chennai : DMK president M. Karunanidhi Friday announced the party’s candidate for the Feb 7 elections to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.

    In a statement issued here, Karunanidhi said the party would field Trichi N. Siva.

    Six Rajya Sabha members of the state are set to retire in April. Of these, two are from DMK – Vasanthi Stanley and S. Amir Ali Jinnah.

    On its own, the DMK will not be able to elect its candidate(s) to the Rajya Sabha as it lacks the requisite numbers.
