Shillong: In the wake of growing demands for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the alleged nexus between politicians and militants, Meghalaya Home Minister Roshan Warjri Monday said there was no need for an inquiry until there was concrete evidence.
“There are lots of allegations about the politician-militant nexus. I am concerned about those and the government as a whole is discussing the issue. However, these allegations are vague,” Warjri told journalists.
“We need to have concrete grounds to begin such an inquiry,” he said.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has not ruled out the existence of such a nexus.
Opposition members under the banner of Meghalaya People’s Front recently met Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and demanded an NIA probe into the matter.
