The Delhi government said the peak demand was successfully met.

“The maximum demand today (Thursday) was 5,789 MW at 4.11 p.m. This was the highest demand Delhi has ever met so far,” a government official said.

“Due to the excessive heat and humidity, the demand for power in Delhi is increasing day by day,” the official added.

Thursday saw the maximum temperature rise again to 41 degrees Celsius.
