A tea and snacks shop in one of the oldest markets of Chennai called Parry’s. It was a Sunday morning and I asked this old man if he was fasting. And he said “of course.” So I asked if he never felt hungry or thirsty on seeing so much food from morning till evening. He said “now I’m used to it, have been doing it for so many years. And it’s a greater pleasure to serve others when you are fasting and not the other way round. My children don’t want to be in the same line of work, but i am happy with my shop. It’s the only thing I have.”
