New Delhi : The CPI-M’s farmers wing Monday opposed the Narendra Modi government’s proposed decision to implement the recommendations made by the Madhav Gadgil-led Western Ghat ecological expert panel.
“AIKS cautions the government against rushing through its implementation without addressing serious concerns in the minds of the people in Western Ghats,” said a statement issued by All India Kisan Sabha, the Communist Party of India-Marxist’s farmers wing.
Stating that the government’s policy on “such a senstive matter” will affect “millions of people across six states”, the AIKS added that the recommendations made by the committee “were a matter of contention and intense debate” in Kerala.
The CPI-M led Left Democratic Front is the main opposition in the Kerala assembly.
