Islamabad : The port city of Karachi continued with its shutdown Wednesday in the wake of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s arrest for interrogation in London Tuesday, media reported.
Roads wore a deserted look, public transport was scant, petrol vends and shops were closed and a large number of MQM workers participated in sit-in protest, Dawn online reported.
Protestors vowed to continue with the protest unless they heard Hussain’s voice.
MQM workers in other cities of Pakistan also staged protests.
Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), Karachi University (KU), Federal Urdu University for Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast), Jinnah University for Women have postponed all examinations scheduled for Wednesday.
