Pune Violence: JUH briefs damages suffered by Muslims to Police Commissioner

Pune: City unit of Jamiat Ulema Hind met Pune police officials including Pune commissioner and ACPs under the direction of JUH Maharashtra president Maulana Muhammad Nadeem Siddique and presented the ground realities, which they found after visiting the affected areas in Pune and its nearby areas.

Houses and shops belonging to Muslims, mosques and madarsas were damaged by Hindu radicals during the violent protest due to the purported uploading of derogatory images of Chatrapati Shivaji and late Shiv Sena chief Bala Saheb Thakarey on social networking website Facebook.

The Jamiat Pune unit comprising of 7-8 people briefed Pune commissioner Satish Mathur and ACP Abdur Raheman about the physical and property damages suffered by the Muslim community living in Pune city and nearby areas due to the unwarranted violent protest held by the Hindu communal forces.

All the incidences of violence against Muslims carried out by Hindu radicals in Pune and all the affected nearby areas were mentioned to the commissioner in writing by the Jamiat and special attention was drawn towards the vandalism of number of Mosques and Madarsas, brutal beating of Aisha Mosque’s Imam and deadly thrashing of two young men who were returning after praying night prayer in Hadapsar area of Pune.

It was also informed that the young IT professional Mohsin Sadiq sheikh (24 years) who was the resident of Solapur was killed by the miscreants and his dead body was transported to his native place where the people were furious due to his killing as he was considered very innocent, intelligent and sane by the community in Solapur. They also demanded Rs. 10 lacs as compensation to the family of Mohsin.

The Jamiat unit appealed commissioner to deal strongly with the miscreants who have affected the lives of innocent people who work daily to earn bread and butter for their family. They also asked commissioner to propose ban to the government on proved anti-social outfit Hindu Rashtra Sena whose members have killed innocent young man Mohsin Shaikh.

The commissioner of Pune has assured Jamiat that he will issue stern orders to his sub ordinates to immediately restore peace and to arrest those who were responsible for disturbing normal life and creating havoc in the city.

On the same line Aurangabad unit of Jamiat Ulema also met the commissioner of Aurangabad and demanded immediate arrests of Shiv Sainik for running vandalism across the city which affected the normal lives of Muslim community.
