Seoul : The toll in the April 16 South Korean ferry tragedy rose to 292 as divers recovered one more body late Sunday, the disaster response centre said Monday.
A spokesman of the disaster response centre said that one male body was retrieved from the left side on the fourth floor of the five-story vessel Sunday night.
On the 55th day into the search, 292 passengers have been confirmed dead, with 12 others still missing.
No survivors have been reported since 172 people were saved from the ship and sea on April 16 when the ferry Sewol capsized and sank off the southwestern coast.
Divers have cut open windows in the ship’s rear side to pull out floating objects and enter the passenger cabins where the remaining missing were believed to be trapped.
