New Delhi : A court here Monday awarded life imprisonment to 17 of the 18 policemen convicted of killing 22-year-old MBA student Ranbir Singh in a staged shootout in Dehradun in 2009. Here is the timeline of the case:

July 3 – Ranbir stays at Digambar Jain Mandir.
July 3 – Ranbir arrested and kept in Dalanwala police station.
July 3 – Ranbir killed by policemen in a staged shootout.
July 4 – Ranbir’s father gets threats.
July 6 – Ranbir’s father registers FIR.
July 29 – On the request of Uttarakhand government, the central government issues notification directing the CBI to probe the matter.
July 30 – CBI registers case against the policemen.
Dec 22 – CBI files chargesheet in the case against erring police officers in the court of CBI special judicial magistrate in Dehradun.
March 17, 2011 – Trial transferred from Dehradun to New Delhi by order of Supreme Court.
June 2 – Court frames charges against 18 policemen.
June 6, 2013 – Delhi court convicts 18 policemen involved in the case.
June 7 – CBI demands death penalty for the convicted policemen.
June 9 – Court sentences 17 policemen to life imprisonment.
