Minority Welfare Society felicitates outstanding students in Guwahati

Guwahati: Speaking as the chief guest at the students felicitation programme organised by the Minority Welfare Society (MWS) in Guwahati, Abu Saleh Najmuddin, former Health Minister of Assam said, “Any community that does not accord importance to education is bound to remain backward. A community’s empowerment can come only from acquiring information and knowledge.”

He congratulated the students who did exceptionally well in their Board and University examinations and urged them to give something back to the society when they become productive and get settled down in life.

Minority Welfare Society, the organisation of the non-resident Barak Valley minority community families, organised a special felicitation programme on Sunday in Guwahati to honour the outstanding students of the community who fared exceptionally well in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations, results of which were out recently.

Among the school leaving students, Iftikhar Hussain (95%), Md Khairuzzaman Choudhury (95%), Jahid UJ Jaman (95%), Asfaque Laskar (95%), Gulsana Jahan Mazumder (95%), Shemin Almaf Mazumder (95%), Muhsina Shirin Barbhuiya (93%), Nawreen Akhtar Chowdhury (91%), Tauhid Rasul (87%), Nishat Kibria Choudhury (87%), Khalid Mahmood Choudhury (87%), Asif Jamal Rahman (87%), Sadia Sultana (82%), Arshia Amin Choudhury (84%), Afrid Rasul (78%), and Md Yaminik Imtiaz Talukdar were honoured with commendation plaques and certificates.

Suhel Ahmed Laskar (96%), Raafius Saleh Choudhury (93%), Ruksar Choudhury (92%), Md Faheemul Islam (90%), Shadaab Ahmed Rajbarbhuiya (88%), Tausif Rosul (83%), Wahida Jahan Barbhuiya (63%), and Nazmin Sultana Laskar (69%) were recipients of honours for their stellar performance in SSC examinations. Ameera Yasmin Mazumder who topped the list of successful candidates of the LL M examination of Gauhati University (2013) was accorded a special honour.

Similarly, special felicitation was also accorded to Ferdous Ahmed Barbhuiya who completed his PhD on ‘Design & Development of Intrusion Detection System: A Discrete Event System Approach’ from IIT Guwahati in April 2014.
