Lucknow : Sahara chief Subrata Roy is likely to be taken to New Delhi Monday by road, police sources said.
According to officials, the business tycoon, who was arrested following the Supreme Court’s instructions, will be escorted to Delhi by a team of the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Roy is scheduled to appear in the apex court March 4.
While officials refused to divulge details of the route by which Roy will be taken, it is understood that a team of two dozen police officers would take him via the Lucknow-Kanpur-Firozabad-Yamuna Expressway route.
Many Sahara India officials and his family members are also likely to be part of his cavalcade.
Roy, who was arrested by the Lucknow police Feb 28, has been lodged at a forest department guest house at the Kukrail picnic spot near here.
Police have so far not sought permission to fly him to New Delhi. In case police take Roy by air, they would have to seek permission from the district police chief 48-hours in advance, an officer said.
The district police and administration has come under criticism after Roy was given VIP treatment at the guest house and daily visitors and tourists were denied permission to visit the spot, which is also a crocodile breeding centre.
