Mining scam: Goa CM defends delay in filing complaints

Panaji : The Goa government has delayed filing complaints against those involved in the Rs.35,000-crore mining scandal because of the complicated nature of the scam, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Wednesday.

Parrikar said this while presenting the budget for the year 2014-15 in the assembly.

“My government is committed to punish those guilty in the mining scam. The delay in filing complaints against them is because of the complicated nature of the scam,” said Parrikar.

The chief minister is accused of going slow in cracking down on mining magnates, politicians and bureaucrats involved in the scam, which was exposed by the Justice M.B. Shah commission.
