Affidavit against JIH books in HC is misuse of Power: Swami Vishwabhadhrananda Shaktibodhi

Calicut: Renowned activist Swami Vishwabhadhrananda Shaktibodhi said that the affidavit submitted by Government of Kerala in High Court inciting to ban 14 books published by Islamic Publishing House, the publishing wing of Jamaat e Islami Kerala is an abuse of power by government. He was speaking in a programme to protesting the affidavit at University of Calicut conducted by Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) University Campus Unit.

‘The power always scare words and books,’ said Swami. ‘This clear the corrupted condition of power. When we look at the contents of these books and reasons to demand banning we may feel to ban other books too with same or more aggressive contents such as Communist Manifesto of Karl Marx, books of Ambedkar etc. This confirm alienation of those ideology which is more critical to existing system,’ he added.

Dr. K.S. Madhavan, Assistant Professor Department of History University of Calicut addressed the gathering. He extended his solidarity as a protest of misusing power to suppress the voices from backwards and minorities.

Samad Kunnakkavu, State Secretary of Solidarity Youth Movement, told that JIH would never stop its ideological criticism against prevailing system fearing the marginalisation but more actively engagged in its activities. He spoke on the contents of each books in affidavit. P. Ruksana, State President GIO Kerala, spoke on the contradictions in the affidavit. ‘This affidavit proves Islamophobic attitude of government.’ said Ruksana.

A.H Nahas, District President SIO Malappuram presided the programme. Ajmal V, Campus Unit President did welcome speech and Unit Secretary E. Raees paid vote of thanks.
