Pakistan government, TTP finalise venue for talks

Islamabad: The Pakistan government and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), at a meeting Saturday, decided on a venue to hold the peace talks.

The two-hour meeting was attended by Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan during which key decisions were made, Taliban committee member Maulana Samiul Haq said, the Dawn online reported.

The Dawn report, however, did not mention the date and venue for the talks.

The TTP had earlier objected to holding the talks in the North Waziristan area while the government wanted Bannu airport in Miranshah to be the venue.

The government committee wants to hold the talks at an easily accessible place.

Another member of the TTP, Maulana Yousuf Shah, said that Saturday’s meeting between the two committees was an important breakthrough.

“The nation would soon hear good news,” he said.
