Zakir Hussain College, AMU wins Basketball at SPARDHA-2014

Aligarh: The Z.H. College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University won the trophy of Basketball (M) at SPARDHA-2014, the annual sports fest of IIT-Banaras Hindu University on 28th March. A total of 37 students participated from the college in events like Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Table Tennis, Badminton etc. and displayed an overall excellent performance throughout the tournament competing against some of the best teams from ISM, IIT’s, NIT’s etc.

In Basketball, ZH College’s team defeated IIT, BHU, in finals and won the trophy by gaining 74-59 points. Earlier, AMU team defeated NIT Jamshedpur in pool stage and ISM Dhanbad in a one-sided match. Arbaz Khan was declared as the man of the tournament for his outstanding performance.

In Volleyball, the college cleared the pool stage by winning all matches though it finally lost to IIT, BHU in semifinals. In Carom, the AMU team got through the quarter finals while in Football, the team secured second position in the pool, but missed the semifinal.

ZH College of Engineering and Technology was ranked third among a total of 19 teams that participated from all over India.

College of Engineering and Technology congratulated students on their achievement and thanked Mr. Imran Mohammad, Department of Petroleum Studies and Mr. Mohammad Hussain, Department of Civil Engineering for providing support to students in the tournament.
