Undertake Urdu development from homes: Prof. Akhtarul Wasey

Aligarh: Urdu language has taken birth in this country and it has not only played vital role in our freedom struggle but has also spread communal harmony and established unity in country. We have to take revolutionary steps to develop the Urdu language with changing times said Padamshree Prof. Akhtarul Wasey , Commissioner of Commission for Linguistic Minorities, Government of India as Chief Guest in the closing ceremony of four day national seminar on , “Development of Urdu Language in Present Era” and national workshop of Managers of Jamia Urdu Aligarh Centres jointly held by Jamia Urdu Aligarh and National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

He also said that various state governments and central government have launched schemes to promote Urdu but in fact for the sustainable development Urdu has to be linked with employment.

Addressing the gathering Prof. Akhtarul Wasey said that Urdu is like my mother. No language spreads or develops through governments. Language remains alive with the love of its speakers and users. So revive Urdu in your homes. He said that keep four things in your heart i.e mother, religion, country and mother language. He said that Uttar Pradesh government has excluded Urdu from education for which we are working. Prof. Wasey said that the governments which claim that Urdu teachers are not available for Urdu education are making lies. NCPUL has a list and there is no shortage of Urdu teachers in the country.

Prof. Akhtar-ul-Wasey thanking the Jamia Urdu Aligarh for bestowing upon him Daktoor-e- Adab degree (D. Litt) said that the credit of our being on this high place goes to the Jamia Urdu. We are under its debt.

On the occasion of honouring eminent Urdu writer, thinker and educationist Prof. Akhatrul Wasey with Daktoor-e-Adab degree ( D. Litt.) OSD of Jamia Urdu Aligarh said that Prof. Akhtarul Wasey has done commendable work for the development of Urdu language. He has not only mentioned the importance, contributions and achievements of Jamia Urdu Aligarh in its Report submitted to the Government of India on behalf of the Committee constituted by the Human Resource Development ministry but has also made recommendations for incorporating Jamia Urdu into an open university. That is an important step in a positive direction.

Jasim Mohammad Director said that Jamia Urdu Aligarh is continuously trying to link the Urdu language with employment and due to that reason it has taken up massive upgradation of its courses apart of introducing vocational courses. He said that the time has come when the government should accord equivalency to degrees awarded by Jamia Urdu with other boards, so that the young generation of the marginalised classes may get better opportunities of the employment.

On the occasion the Chief Guest Prof. Akhtarul-Wasey also honoured Abdul Mnnan, Mairaj Ahmad Siddiqui, Nasir Iqbal, Azimullah ,Khurshid Ahmad, Farid Khan and Mohd. Hasan acknowledging their good and dedicated work.
