New Delhi : A court here Wednesday sent to police custody, till June 2, Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Faizan Ahmed Sultan, who is an accused in the 2008 Delhi blasts.
Sultan was deported from Sharjah to Delhi May 2 and arrested here by the National Investigation Agency, which claimed that Sultan provided hiding places to the top leadership of the IM since 2008. His name was disclosed by an arrested IM operative and later by IM co-founder Yasin Bhatkal.
As Delhi Police requested the court to grant them police custody of Sultan to unearth the conspiracy, Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash allowed them to quiz him till June 2.
Several bomb blasts had rocked the capital city Sep 13, 2008. As many as 13 suspected Indian Mujahideen members are currently facing trial in the case. Police have also chargesheeted Bhatkal and his close aide, Asadullah Akhtar in the case.
