Chandigarh : With his daughter-in-law Harsimrat Kaur Badal taking over as the union food processing industries minister, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Wednesday approved the setting up of a mega food park in Ludhiana.
A spokesman of the chief minister’s office said the food park, spread over an area of 100 acres at Ladowal in the district, would encourage crop diversification among farmers and promote food processing industry in the state.
Estimated to cost Rs.150 crore, the food park proposal would be submitted to the union food processing industries ministry, he said.
Badal also approved the setting up of modern fish markets in Amritsar and Bathinda to boost fish production among farmers in the state.
