Three Haryana cops let ACP’s killer enjoy home stay, arrested

Gurgaon : Three policemen were Monday arrested here for providing privileges to Vijay Bhardwaj, the alleged killer of Delhi Police encounter specialist ACP Rajbir Singh.

“The policemen allowed Bhardwaj to stay at his Gurgaon Sector 14 house instead of taking him to the CBI court in Panchkula where he was to be presented Monday,” a police official said.

Head Constable Dhan Singh and constables Pawan and Rinku of Haryana Police were arrested for being lax and allowing the alleged killer homely comfort and treatment.

Gurgaon Police commissioner Alok Mittal has appointed Crime Branch Unit 8 chief Amit Kumar to investigate the lax handling of the alleged killer of ACP Rajbir Singh.

“Bhardwaj was taken out from Bhondsi Jail here Sunday 5 p.m. for being presented in court. When Amit Kumar and his team from the Crime Branch raided his house in the early hours of Monday, Bhardwaj was found ‘enjoying’ in his house,” a senior police officer told IANS.

The three policemen guarding him were sleeping in a separate room.

A fourth guard, constable Naresh Kumar, who was to reach Panchkula directly has also been booked.

Bhardwaj and his brother were also booked.

The case has been handed over to Crime Branch’s Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar.

Property dealer Bhardwaj allegedly murdered Rajbir Singh in his office on the Gurgaon-Mehrauli road here March 24, 2008.
