Modi will land in an Indian Air Force plane at the Babatpur airport at 10.20 a.m. and then proceed to the city by road.

He will meet a group of intellectuals, garland the statue of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) founder Madan Mohan Malviya, lay the foundation stone of a Rs.200-crore textile designing institute and meet BJP workers.

The prime minister will also visit the ashram of Mata Anandmayi and adopt a village.

Though a visit to the famed Kashi Vishwanath temple is not scheduled, officials are keeping contingency plans ready if the prime minister wishes to pray at the Shiva temple.

Modi visited the temple soon after leading the Bharatiya Janata Party to victory in the Lok Sabha election — along with confidant Amit Shah.

The prime minister will spend the night at a guest house in BHU.

He will also visit his office at Ravindrapuri Colony. He will fly back to New Delhi on the afternoon of Nov 8.

Modi was scheduled to come to Varanasi in October but the trip was axed following heavy rains in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
