New Delhi: Another apparent attempt of communal flare up in Delhi’s Okhla constituency was averted on Wednesday morning due to tactful of local residents. According to reports, a dead pig was found inside a mosque in Madanpur Khadar locality in Oklha constituency on Wednesday morning when the Imam of the local mosque went for the Morning Prayer.

Fortunately, tactfulness of the Imam and residents made sure that the news is not immediately spread to the localities that averted any communal flare up. The Imam immediately called few local residents, who informed the police. They cleaned the mosque immediately.

Soon some Hindus too had gathered who realised the gravity of the situation and immediately formed and together they formed a ‘peace committee’.

No arrest has been made, although police has filed a case and are investigating the matter. Earlier also there has been report of desecrating the holy Quran.

There seems a clear attempt at instigating a communal riot in the locality but local Muslims and Hindus presented an example of harmony and restrain this time as the peace committee, formed immediately, tried to resolve the issue and to keep an eye in future too.

Madanpur Khadar incident came close on the heels of tension in Bawana during Muharram. During Diwali and on subsequent days communal tension had led to stone pelting and even firing in Trilokpuri area, forcing police to impose curfew after years in Delhi.

There appears a clear attempt at polarisation before the Assembly elections in Delhi.
