Aurangabad: Angered with what it termed as ‘unprovoked offensive statements’ against the party, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has now sent a legal notice to Congress MLA Parineeti Shinde, daughter of former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to apologies for her recent statement.

Last week, in Solapur district Ms. Shinde had termed MIM as an anti-national party and had called for ban on it. She had said that the party has divisive agenda and it works against the interest of country.

The decision of sending a legal notice to Ms. Shinde was taken by the party chief Asaduddin Owaisi who had earlier demanded on a TV channel an apology from her and had threatened of initiating legal procedure if she does not offer apology.

On Saturday, Owaisi appointed Advocate Qadri Anwar Ahmed as party attorney and sent a legal notice to Ms. Shinde calling for her apology within 8 days or the party will lodge civil and criminal case against her.

Terming Ms. Shinde’s offensive words against MIM as slander without any evidence Advocate Qadri said, “MIM is an old party which was registered 57 years ago and is free to run for election anywhere in the country. Out of frustration Shinde called MIM as anti-national but she has no evidence to prove her words. Such offensive statement from her is totally not acceptable to the party”.

“Congress calls itself to be a secular party but her own such statement has raised question over her party’s secularism. We are not inclined to go into war of words but demand apology from her for her derogatory statements,” he said.
