New Delhi : Three victims of the 2011 Delhi High Court blast Tuesday moved court saying they have not received the compensation awarded to them even three years after the incident.
The PIL filed by All India Anti Terrorist Front, through advocate Gaurav Bansal, said that despite the high court order, three victims – Aftab Ahmed, Raashid Ali (both injured) and Nizamuddin (deceased) – have not got the compensation.
In the terrorist attack Sep 7, 2011, 15 people died and 70 others were injured, four of whom later lost a limb. The court in September 2011 had asked the central and Delhi governments to pay an ex-gratia amount of Rs.10 lakh each to the families of those killed and Rs.3 lakh to those who suffered grievous injuries.
Since last three years, the victims are running from pillar to post to receive the fixed deposit of Rs.3 lakh, the plea said.
“Several times the victims have approached the government for the purpose of receiving the compensation but were told by the officers of the revenue department that the process is on and the files are with the divisional commissioner, revenue,” the plea said.
It said the two victims — Ahmed and Ali are the sole bread winners for their families and are living in very poor condition and find themselves in a very pathetic situation where they are unable to manage even two meals a day.
Another victim Nizamuddin of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh had lost his life in the terrorist attack and the relatives of the victim has not been properly compensated by the government despite of the clear orders of this court, the plea said.
