Ranchi : Chief Election Commissioner of India V.S. Sampath Thursday said voter turnout and security were two major concerns facing the poll panel for the upcoming assembly polls in Jharkhand.
“The security and high voter turnout are two major concerns for the state assembly polls,” said Sampath at a press conference here. He was on a two-day visit to Ranchi. Sampath reviewed the poll preparations in Jharkhand.
He said: “We are satisfied with the poll preparations. The security forces number will be tripled. Instructions have been given to officials to check the misuse of the social media in the assembly poll.”
Jharkhand has 2.07 crore voters. Around 99.97 percent voters have photo identity card.
Sampath reviewed the election preparation with deputy commissioners (DC), superintendents of police, chief secretary, home secretary, state police chief and others.
Jharkhand will have five-phase assembly poll Nov 25, Dec 2, 9, 14 and 20.
