Aligarh: Students’ Union and alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University have joined hands to create a mobile application that will allow girls of AMU to order books from Maulana Azad Library at the convenience of their residence. This app will allow undergraduate girls to get the book delivered to their hostel same day.
Recent controversy generated on the statement by Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, made newly elected Secretary of AMU Students Union Shahzeb Ahmad restless. While addressing the matter, Shahzeb Ahmad assured that AMUSU is committed to resolve library access problem for girls and they are taking immediate actions in this matter. Shahzeb Ahmad also conversed to alumni settled in US, UAE, UK, Malaysia and Australia, in this regard.
The AMUSU has come across a solution with a mobile application which will be as easy to access as a pizza delivery app. Through this app every girl student would be able to request the books through their mobile using their unique enrolment ID and the books will be delivered to their hostel on the very same day.
Alumnus of AMU, Aamir Qutub ,Ex- Gen. Secretary of AMUSU; and General Manager of an ICT Cluster organization in Australia, has committed to develop and bear the expenses of this app. Aamir has said that he’ll donate this app to AMU for free.
“I owe a lot to Aligarh Muslim University. When everyone is merely talking about it, I believe in taking actions. It will be a gift for my juniors that would allow them to access library from the convenience of their rooms,” said Aamir Qutub, adding, “The work has been started and this application will be made available to girl students of AMU in 3-4 months”.
