Kolkata: From being brought up in the gloomy bylanes of the city to ill nourishment and poverty, these children have faced it all. 60 such kids of sex workers in Kolkata with exceptional football talents have been medically adopted by a leading hospital in the southern outskirts of the city.
The Peerless hospital, partnering the Indian Super League franchise Atletico De Kolkata, has decided to give free health cards, free annual health checkup cards and free ISL match tickets to the budding footballers, who are members of the Durbar Sports Academy.
Hospital managing director Dilip Samaddar said: “We will adopt the 60 children of Durbar Sports Academy to take care of their medical needs. The children of this club have really shown great efforts to journey from regional to international sporting initiatives.”
The youngsters had one field training session with the players of Atletico De Kolkata. They looked awestruck finding themselves face-to-face with their footballing heroes.
