New Delhi : Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator M.S. Dhir, who was denied a ticket by the party for the upcoming Delhi assembly polls, Friday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here. He was the speaker of the dissolved Delhi assembly.
“I was unhappy with the AAP as they were given an opportunity by the people of Delhi to clean the system but they failed at their job. There is no democracy in the party,” Dhir told reporters.
“I had joined the AAP because at that time I thought that they would do some good but over time the party has started to revolve around one man and he does whatever he wishes,” he added.
Dhir said he was impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work and was sure that the Delhi BJP would do well under Modi’s leadership and guidance.
“Modi’s development mantra has been appreciated by all. It has been ages since India last saw such a determined leader like him,” he said.
Dhir, who represented south Delhi’s Jangpura constituency in the 70-member assembly, also claimed that there were “many more” AAP leaders and workers who would soon leave the party.
BJP leader Prabhat Jha said that the doors of the party were open to all.
“The BJP has become the strongest party in the country today and we welcome those who wish to join us in developing the nation,” Jha said.
