Kolkata : City football club Mohun Bagan Friday chose to take an indecisive stand on the arrest of its assistant general secretary Srinjoy Bose in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.
“It is too early to comment,” club general secretary Anjan Mitra told IANS when quizzed on the issue.
Bose, a Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) during the day for his “prima facie involvement in the Saradha scam on allegations of criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of funds and deriving undue financial benefits”, a CBI official said.
Asked whether the club would consider making someone else as assistant general secretary in view of Bose’s arrest, Mitra said: “Right now, we aren’t thinking on those lines”.
Bose is the second big fish in the city’s football fraternity to be added in the multi-crore rupee swindle.
Earlier, top East Bengal official Debabrata Sarkar was taken into custody. He is now in judicial remand.
