New Delhi : India will host the 11th International Inter-Ministerial Conference on Population and Development in Delhi Nov 25-26 to promote cooperation on reproductive health and development.
The conference will be organised by the ministry of health and family welfare. It will focus on issues like understanding demographic dividend and improving the financing mechanism for maternal, new born, child and adolescent health, a statement said.
It will help in promoting healthy lives for adolescents. The event will also witness the launch of the Lancet Series on violence against women and girls.
“The conference will provide a platform to share evidence with senior level policy makers from 26 developing countries and other stakeholders for decision making on strategic and urgent investments in youth and second demographic dividends,” said a health ministry official.
“It will provide evidence and share the inter-linkage between population dynamics and demographic dividend, highlight the challenges in achieving the demographic dividend, particularly in a developing country,” it said.
