Kolkata : Expressing concern over delayed projects resulting into cost escalation, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu Sunday asked authorities of the Kolkata Metro Railway to expedite the implementation of pending projects.
“All pending projects need to be expedited to prevent further escalation of project costs,” said Prabhu post a meeting with officials after reviewing various project works in the state.
On the issue of security, he called for better training of security personnel and emphasised on the need for more women security officials.
He also stressed on the need for better financial management and asked officials to take necessary steps to increase earnings, a press statement said quoting Prabhu.
Directing the officials to give immediate response to passenger complaints, he emphasised there should be single number where passengers could lodge all sorts of complaints.
According cleanliness a national priority, Prabhu said that there should be no compromise in ensuring cleanliness of trains, platforms and railway tracks.
