Kolkata: The CID Wednesday slapped charges of terrorism and other serious offences against all the four accused arrested in connection with the Oct 2 explosion in West Bengal.
“All the four accused have now been additionally charged under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as well as waging war against India under section 121 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” said Dilip Adak, DIG (CID).
Four people, including two women, have been arrested for the explosion that took place in a house in Khagragarh of Burdwan district, killing two suspected militants and injuring another.
Adak said Rajira Bibi alias Rajia, wife of one of the killed suspected militants, and Amina Bibi, wife of the injured man, were being brought to the CID headquarters in Kolkata for interrogation.
The four accused were initially charged with causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, attempt to murder and destroying evidence as well Explosive Substances Act among others.
Continuing the probe, the CID during the day raided the house, believed to be rented by Kauser, another suspect who is at large. Several documents and other incriminating materials have been seized from there.
Suspected to be a regular at the house where the blast took place, the CID have circulated Kauser’s sketch in police stations across the state.
