Patna HC former Justice Syed Shah Nayyar Hussain passes away in New Delhi

New Delhi: Justice Syed Shah Nayyar Hussain, the former Patna High Court judge and presently with the National Green Tribunal, passed away after a prolonged illness on Tuesday.

He was 62.

Justice Hussain breathed his last at a private hospital, where he was admitted for a long time and was fighting a terminal illness. Hussain’s mortal remains were buried at the Kabrastan in Nizamuddin area. He is survived by three sons and two daughters.

Hussain was Patna High Court judge from 2004 to 2013. After his retirement in July 2013 from the High Court, he was immediately made a judge at the National Green Tribunal at Delhi.

After his education from Patna, Hussain initially started practice as a professional civil lawyer and gradually became senior High Court lawyer in the Bihar capital city. He became Bihar government pleader in June 1999.

Known for his straight forward personality, Hussain was also associated with many social organizations. He had a keen interest in promotion of Urdu language.

Many of his well wishers extended condolences on his demise. These included Jamiat Ulema senior member Haji Hasan Ahmad Qasmi, Anwarul Hoda and Congress leaders Bari Azmi, Humayu Khan, S M Qamar Ismail and Syed Fasiuddin.
