Pakistanis injured in border shelling get aid

Islamabad : Cheques worth Pakistani Rs.75,000 ($729) have been distributed among 23 people injured in villages in Sialkot by the shelling across the frontier in Jammu and Kashmir, a media report said Friday.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif distributed the cheques at Sialkot’s Combined Military Hospital on Thursday, Dawn online reported.

He also inquired after the injured persons and presented them bouquets.

The chief minister urged the UN to take serious notice of the brutal killing of innocent citizens in border villages.

The latest string of ceasefire violations on the 700-km LoC and the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir started Oct 3.

On Pakistan’s side, two people were killed in Sialkot Thursday in latest firing, raising the number of deaths in the past few days to 13 and of the injured to 43.
