Gurgaon : Calling Gurgaon a ‘Mini India’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday said its development was ignored because of ‘parallel administration’ by families of chief ministers.
Addressing Haryana’s last assembly election rally here in sector 29, Modi said that Gurgaon could have been like Bangalore and Hyderabad or better, but parties ruling the state themselves became obstacles in the progress of this millennium city.
Jailed former chief minister Om Prakash’s INLD government developed Gurgaon but they themselves became a hurdle in its further progress because of their attitude.
Modi said that people from all over the country live here. But the infrastructure of the city has totally collapsed.
“Gurgaon has lots of money, people living here are hard workers. Only better governance can speed up its progress,” he said.
“Dalit women faced atrocities, they were raped by ‘gundas’ but police were not ready to register their FIRs. The commissions formed by state governments have pointed this out in their reports,” Modi added.
He said that Haryana is a small state close to Delhi and it has tremendous capacity for progress, it only needs good governance.
He appealed to the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party candidates.
“Give us a clear mandate in the Haryana assembly as you gave in the last Lok Sabha election. It was the power of 125 crore Indians that forced the USA to salute us,” he added.
He said that political analysts too are saying that the BJP will be the single largest party in the state, while some surveys claimed that it will get a clear majority.
Modi said that people of Haryana know the power of their finger. They will push the button of the EVM in favour of the BJP Oct 15.
Nine assembly candidates (contesting in the Gurgaon Lok Sabha seat area) and Union Minister Rao Inderjeet Singh also shared the dais with Modi.
Voting for the 90 seats of the Haryana assembly will be held Oct 15. The results will be announced Oct 19.
The BJP, the INLD and the Congress are the main parties in the fray.
