Chandigarh : Haryana has set a new voting record in assembly elections, with a 73.7 percent of the over 1.63 crore-strong electorate turnout recorded so far Wednesday.
This is the highest-ever voting record in Haryana assembly polls since 1967, chief electoral officer Shrikant Walgad said.
The previous record of maximum polling was 72.65 percent in 1967. In the 2009 assembly polls, Haryana had recorded nearly 72.29 percent voting.
Walgad said that the statistics of votes polled Wednesday were preliminary.
