Bhubaneswar : Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Monday visited the cyclone-hit areas of Odisha and interacted with people, assuring them that his party will help them to get back to normal life.
He reached Jeypore in Koraput district and met farmers who suffered extensive damages to their crops due to the cyclone.
Gandhi said the farmers complained that they have not been properly compensated by the government. “Our party will raise this (issue) in parliament,” he told reporters after meeting a group of farmers.
The Congress vice president is scheduled to interact with cyclone affected people in Burujua and Pottangi in Koraput.
He will also undertake an aerial survey of Malkangiri district, about 620 km from Bhubaneswar. Gandhi’s Odisha visit comes a day after he visited the cyclone affected areas of Andhra Pradesh.
